MAKING A LIFE WORTHY     My profession is my pride . When you know you have a responsibility to make lives better you need to do your job with your heart . Being a Mental Health Professional has its own rewards  and a fair share of challenges . Sharing a recent  incident of reward .                                        Yesterday @ 2100hrs  @ Cafe at Chandigarh  As I sat having my dinner at a cafe yesterday I saw a gentleman walking towards me . As a habit or as a side effect of my profession  I quickly analysed him and made my check list of his state of mind , not knowing that I would actually be having a conversation with him. He stopped at my table and asked me if I was who I am . Answering his question in an affirmative and a  more closer look at him had my grey cells recollect  both his name and his sons name .                                                           The Story, The Past  His son was a handsome,

Lost Childhood

Lost Childhood The swings in the park , the games in the lanes , the pranks , the fights , the doll houses the chor police and chupan chupai have all been lost in this era to the Blue Whales and the Pub Gs . The tuitions to go to, the peer pressures to meet up ,  the cool dude  image and the perfect figure  to maintain is a huge responsibility to keep up to . Nuclear family kids who've known  grandparents and families only during summer vacations are expected to master the art of understanding ,values , manners and adjustment. Aircon kids with a battery of servants , sunscreened and ferried everywhere who've  never splashed themselves in the rain or basked under the sun are supposed to be strong adults ! Gone are the days when they were free from fears r and free to pluck those mangoes from the trees , and could be out till dark and yet return home safe clad in happiness. Locations are now shared to track the safety and upkeep the trust of the parent child bond. W

Kulfi Waala & Karma

Kulfi Waala & karma                       Kulfi Waala  & Karma                           ‌    भैया चार कुल्फी देना It was an unusually  long day at work in the sweltering hot month of May and, I was rushing back to my air conditioned home to grab my lunch and to catch up on my favorite noon nap. Just as I was taking a turn to my lane I saw a crowd of bystanders bending their heads and torsos over something on a side walk pavement . Like always my mind did a calculative move of a typical human mentality  to stop or not to stop. While I was making up my mind I saw a familiar cart parked near those crowd of people. It was the cart of the kulfi waala who used to frequently visit our  sector to sell his Kulfis. I immediately parked my car and went towards the hanging head crowd hoping not to see something which would be beyond me. There he was , lying on the pavement listless . It was a typical scenario one sees in such situations with all kind of people making all kinds of

Anjali and Payal

ANJALI & PAYAL     To the world she had everything, a well-paying job, a husband who met all her needs, two lovely children, a beautiful house, regular holidays to exotic places and a good social life. But Anjali was not happy. The job was there but it was monotonous, with the same boring colleagues and boss. The lovely kids had incessant and never-ending demands which tired her. The inevitable waning of her good looks, the expanding figure sapping her happiness and killing her every day. There was a vacuum inside her a void an emptiness. And because she was happy outwardly she choked on her inner loneliness. She wanted to do so much more but off late she had that sinking feeling that time was running out of her hands like quicksand!  She needed someone to pull her out of the sand in which her thoughts of helplessness and worthlessness were buried. She decided to call her friend Payal before it was too late.
